Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) are essential components in effective business planning, management, and operations, forming a critical foundation of risk management. Adopting a proactive approach, HIRARC helps manage hazards and risks early on, allowing for control measures to be implemented before they become the root cause of accidents. Our 2-day training program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively develop and carry out HIRARC activities in the workplace. As of June 1, 2024, under the Occupational Safety & Health Act (Amendment 2022), employers with five or more employees are required to appoint workers for HIRARC implementation and follow safety procedures, with non-compliance potentially resulting in fines up to RM50,000 or imprisonment of up to six months.
Participants will be able to define and explain the concepts of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control as applied to workplace safety.
Participants will learn to identify various types of hazards (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, etc.) in the workplace and understand their potential risks.
Participants will understand how to apply HIRARC principles in compliance with national safety regulations and industry standards.
Participants will be able to assess the likelihood and severity of identified risks using risk assessment tools, and assign risk levels to workplace activities.
Participants will learn to recommend effective risk control strategies, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participants will be able to develop and maintain HIRARC documentation, including hazard identification forms, risk assessment matrices, and control plans.
Participants will be equipped with strategies to promote a culture of continuous risk assessment and control in their organizations, fostering a safer working environment.
